Modern Dandelion was formed in early 2022 after the dissolution of the lead singer's (Zeki) previous band.
The band recorded music, shot videos, and played shows throughout 2022. After some early turbulence that year, the band lineup eventually stabilized.
Zeki Toyata (Gtr, Vox) formed the project. Scott Maxwell (Bass), who is arguably more famous as a sports writer, joined soon after. Their original keyboardist left a few months in and, after some trouble finding a new one, Michaela Deng (Synthesizer) joined that summer. Their drummer left soon after and, following a show where the band used a drum machine, Julian Duvall (Drums) rounded out the lineup. The lineup has remained essentially the same since late October 2022 although the band will often collaborate with and bring artist Ivan Stille (Lead Gtr) on stage with them
During the turbulent period mid 2022 the band, (consisting at the time of Scott, Zeki, and their previous drummer Jake Goodman), recorded an EP which was later released in April 2023
Following the release of the EP, the band began recording new music and planning a mini BC tour. Despite some challenges, the tour was a great success and the band returned to Toronto where they finished recording the record they're working on.
They are currently active in Toronto, ON, playing shows and gearing up for an album release
